About to

รูปแบบการใช้ about to + infinitive จะต้องตามหลังกิริยา Be เสมอ "about to + infinitive" หมายถึง "going to very soon" หรือ "just going to" เช่น

Don't go out now -- we're about to have lunch.

I was about to go to bed when there was a knock at the door.

สำหรับภาษาอังกฤษแบบอเมริกันนั้น "not about to" จะหมายถึง "unwilling to" เช่น

I'm not about to pay 50 dollars for a dress like that.
